About this space · Read more

Cabin 2 is our best-placed cabin for two on the property. It is standalone, has its own entrance, and is meant for couples who want privacy without being shut in: you can have breakfast outside, leave the door open in the morning and hear birds instead of traffic.

Inside it is simple and well kept, with a queen bed, a private bathroom with hot water, bed linen and towels. It is not crowded with furniture; the point is for the space to feel open and cool, which is what you want in the Quintana Roo climate.

Compared with Cabin 1 it costs more because it is better located and more private. If two of you are travelling and budget decides, Cabin 1 is the answer; if you want a little more comfort for a moderate difference, this is the cabin.

It sits a minute's walk from the Xul-Há lagoon, at the southern end of the Bacalar lagoon. This is a village area, with no loud bars or tourist queues: people get in the water early, paddle, swim and come back. From here it is about ten minutes by car to Bacalar, a few more to Los Rápidos and twenty to Chetumal, so you can use Casa Pantoja as a base for the whole area and come back to somewhere quiet to sleep.

Whether you stay two nights or a week, Cabin 2 stays comfortable with a fan: being on the upper floor it catches the breeze off the lagoon, and shade does much of the work. There is no air conditioning here; if you need it, ask for Cabin 1 or a room. Check-in at 3:00 pm and check-out at 11:00 am.

Casa Pantoja has no direct access to the lagoon. The lagoon is approximately a one-minute walk away; two bathing facilities charge admission. Admission is not included in your stay. Check their prices and opening hours before visiting.
