Los Rápidos de Bacalar: planning your visit
Access, transport and care for the place: what to check before visiting the channel.
· updated
Los Rápidos is the channel connecting the Xul-Há and Bacalar lagoons, identified in APIQROO’s operating rules. Plan your visit using information from the establishment you intend to enter through.
Confirm admission
Use the official Los Rápidos website to contact the establishment and confirm prices, opening hours, services and entry conditions. Ask what admission includes and what costs extra.
Arrange transport
Use the location supplied by the establishment and check the route from your starting point. If travelling without a car, arrange your return too. Do not rely on generic journey times or on finding transport when you leave.
Before entering the water
The Bacalar Ecology Department says visitors must not touch or step on stromatolites. Respect marked areas and staff instructions; do not assume the current, depth or visibility will always be the same.
What to prepare
Bring suitable clothing, water and a way to protect your belongings. Confirm required equipment and current restrictions with the establishment before arriving.
Staying in Xul-Há
Casa Pantoja can be your base for exploring the area. See the accommodation and plan transport around your itinerary. The nearby lagoon is approximately a one-minute walk away: there is no direct access from the property, and the two bathing facilities charge admission not included in your stay.
